Healthcare Marketer’s Exchange gets personal with Carling founder

Pro bono video raises awareness of free vision screenings and aids volunteer recruitment efforts

SAN DIEGO, CALIF., April 4, 2017 – Carling Communications teamed up with Passage Productions to create a pro bono video for California Lions Friends in Sight to help raise awareness that the organization provides free vision screenings and recycled eyeglasses to underprivileged people in Southern California and Northern Mexico who can’t afford them.

Carling and Passage organized a video shoot at one of California Lions Friends in Sight vision-screening events to capture testimonials and footage of volunteers helping community members who cannot afford vision care. The footage became the basis for an innovative marketing campaign to generate awareness, drive volunteer recruitment, and increase donations for the non-profit organization.

The World Health Organization estimates that 40 million people in the world are blind and of that 80% is treatable or reversible. That translates into 32 million people who are in need of help. "We are excited at the opportunity to give back to the community in this way," said Didi Discar, Carling founder and principal. "As an agency whose focus has always been in the eye care industry, vision screenings and vision care are vital services to which Carling has had a strong commitment for many years."
